Good to know
- Washington allows no tip credit: tips and service charges can't count toward the minimum wage, so tipped workers get the full rate.
- Employees under 16 may be paid 85% of the Seattle rate, and student learners, apprentices and messengers with state and Seattle special certificates may be paid less (still above the state minimum). Subminimum wages for workers with disabilities aren't allowed.
- Other Washington cities: L&I's September 30, 2026 release names Seattle, SeaTac, Tukwila, Renton, Bellingham, Everett, Burien and unincorporated King County as the places with their own minimum wage. We found no other Washington city with one taking effect by 2027.
